The Strano Lab proudly represented MIT’s Department of Chemical Engineering at a School of Engineering event held on June 16 at the Samberg Conference Center, hosted by Dean Paula T. Hammond. On display was the ‘sentinel plant’ platform: a groundbreaking system that integrates living plants with nanosensors capable of monitoring the environment for pests, pathogens, and other threats.

What Would You Tell Me…? Video Series
Strano Lab’s Gabriel Sánchez-Velázquez was featured in MIT School of Engineering’s ‘What Would You Tell Me…?’ video series, explaining his sentinel plant nanosensor research at three levels: for a middle schooler, a high schooler, and a field expert. Shot inside a laser microscopy room, the video highlights his work on understanding plant language. The series brings engineering research to wide audiences through the School of Engineering’s social media platforms.
